I always struggle in the mornings or mostly before the first session of the day, to get fully warmed up and the body ready. I am always a bit clunky, I know at 27 what do i know about Clunky, but its true.
I have found a great little pre warm up, warm up, using mini bands. They go around your ankles, knees or whatever area you are trying to target, and depending on what movement pattern you are using. I do a whole series of exercises, around 20 reps of each. By the time I am finished, my quads are switched on, my gluteus are firing and I am ready to train. If you have sore knees, this can help switch the muscles on, and take some of the pain away.
Some of the basics are side shuffles with the bands around your ankles, keeping your feet shoulder width apart.
The same action, but going forward in a split stance walk, and backwards, keeping tension on the band. If you have a look on youtube there are loads of videos on different routines.
If I get some interest, then i'll make a video of me doing my warm up. Here is a picture of the bands I use. The different colours denote strength of band.
